There are three things in life that bring me joy...my relationship with God, spending time with my family and a good plate of southern fried seafood.
DeShelia Spann is a digital marketing strategist, photographer, speaker and gifted storyteller. Her unique and passionate communication techniques change how we look at people, places, and things – for the better. Her innovative approach to solving complex marketing challenges has delivered powerful results for her clients and garnered the respect of her peers. DeShelia’s diverse background contributes to her unique blend of brand development, creative marketing techniques, and interactive media strategies.
She spent the early part of her career working to develop her craft – first as an associate producer for a local news affiliate and then moving on to serve as an associate broadcast producer for one of the largest advertising agencies in the Southeast. DeShelia has worked on international campaigns with some of the sharpest producers, art directors and editors in the industry. She soaked it all in and with every new project, her love for visual design, captivating imagery and beautifully told stories remained.
DeShelia has a firm understanding of the power that technology, marketing, consumer behavior and stellar branding plays in developing a company. In July 2005, she launched DeShelia Spann Photography, allowing her the chance to channel her passion for the photographic arts into documentary projects such as Haiti: Life at the Quake, and Fisherman of Maine. When she’s not working on longer format projects, she can be found photographing editorial work for clients and some of her favorite causes.
DeShelia has worked in many industries - most notably; technology management, consumer goods, life sciences, higher education and broadcast production. She has over 15 years of experience delivering integrated marketing, customer engagement, PR and social media strategies for her clients.
As a speaker, DeShelia’s appeared at many industry events and universities. She’s also appeared as a panelist or moderator at seminars and conferences, including The Social Shakeup and Oracle Modern Marketing Experience (formerly Eloqua Experience). Often sought after for her marketing insight, DeShelia’s appeared on BrightTALK TV, CRN TV and various webinars.
When DeShelia is not working with clients or speaking, she's active in her community. She serves as Economic Development Co-chair for the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a member of the StepUp Ministry Board of Directors and co-captain of Helping Horse Therapeutic Riding Program for the Junior League of Raleigh. Also, she dedicates her time and talents to Projects of Hope, a mission-based non-profit, impacting children and communities throughout Kenya.
In May 2018, she embarked on a new venture, launching Nona Jane Collective, a consulting agency focused on helping non-profits and women entrepreneurs build their brands and expand their missions globally.
DeShelia currently lives in Raleigh, NC with her lovely rescue dog Sasha and is working on her first book.
